Protest in London against Libya intervention

LONDON (AFP) – About 200 demonstrators staged a protest near Prime Minister David Cameron's residence on Monday against military action in Libya.

The demonstrators waved the green flag of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi's regime and chanted "Down, down Cameron; down, down Sarkozy; down, down Obama" opposite the entrance to Downing Street.

The group also brandished placards which read "Stop bombing our families and children" and "We asked for UN observers not cruise missiles."

"We are protesting because Mr Cameron and the British government are leading a war against our country and our people and killing civilians," said Khalifa Elnaddab, a 31-year-old Libyan PhD student studying in Cardiff, Wales.
