The Milwaukee Urinal/Sentinel - Fair and Balanced Reporting
http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/118055779.html

This morning the Milwaukee Urinal/Sentinel has a major article on the protests in Madison Saturday.

"Tod Pulvermacher drew cheers from the crowd and plenty of attention from the news media Saturday. However, a check of online court records shows that a Tod Pulvermacher has been convicted of drunken driving four times and has no valid driver's license."

Librul Media my left nut.

1. So what should the paper have done?
When they found out about the convictions and lack of driver's license, not report it? Should they have not even looked into it in the first place?

5. They should have relegated it to the page...
...where other "driving after revocation" stories are printed. Oh yeah, there is no such page.

With all the potential storylines regarding the protests, this one hardly seems worth top billing.

10. Seems to me the key here is
the editorializing "however", which is clearly meant to imply a lack of credibility -- a judgment that should be left up to the readers. That "however" reveals the paper to have a bias; therefore, this is not sound, creditable, or trustworthy journalism.

2. Why shouldn't the media report that?
If Tod Pulvermacher put himself in the spotlight, there is nothing wrong with the media checking into him and finding out he has 4 drunk driving convictions (assuming it's the same Tod Pulvermacher).

If it were a Republican wouldn't you be cheering the media for doing its job?

3. So, was Mr Pulvermacher lecturing the crowd about the evils of drinking and driving?
If not, WTF is the relevance of his driving record to what he was saying?

That's one of the most imbecilic statements I've ever read in a newspaper.

4. If lobbying legislatures is part of business operations (and a tax deductible cost)
I don't see why this cannot be argued as legitimate (if unusual) farm operations.

8. I've already heard this from one crazed Republican fuck asshole in an attempt to discredit the rally
So, no, it's not inconsequential, people...it's the kind of petty bullshit that these fucks thrive off of. If the Journal wanted to be really probing, they should've checked if he had any unpaid parking tickets...because that has every fucking thing to do with what's going on.

9. What does one have to do with the other? Did he drive to the rally? Was he drunk at the rally?
Ah yes, another fine example of the fairly imbalanced M$M in the USA..

12. a friend of mine was stopped three times in janesville
no license and drunk. all three times he was ever told to find someone to drive him the rest of the way home. one time of those times he was driving his friends car because his friend was passed out.

if i remember correctly wisconsin just passed new drunk driving laws but the laws are`t still as tough as illinois`s.

and yes why does this guys driving record have anything to do with what he said?

14. I am not really familiar with this paper, but I was at the tractor
parade (front row, with my 16 yo daughter and my sister and niece) we did not see any drunk tractor driving. We did, in just the time we were there, see tens of thousands of people, basically coming together because we care about what is happening to the working class. We all have stories. Hard to believe this is the one they honed in on.(okay, maybe with today's mainstream media this is not so hard to believe, but it is still very sad).

I detest drunk driving (lost a cousin to a drunk driver in 1978), but as long as this guy was not drunk at the time, I can see what he did as part of his farming career.
