Americans needing evactuation from Japan
Edited on Sat Mar-12-11 07:17 PM by The Traveler
We have 5 or 6 Americans ... environmental activists ... trapped in Tono, Japan. They escaped the tsunami but had to make the trip from the coast to Tono on foot. A long hike ... the spent the night on a hill top. They report nightmarish devastation, massive loss of life, and demolished roads and infrastructure. With local reports they are getting of nuclear reactor issues, they are understandably eager to be evacuated. They report no injuries but are obviously pretty worn out. They have asked for contact info for American military and or embassy contacts that might help them arrange this. Communications are iffy.

If anyone has a good contact number for emergency relief of American citizens in Japan, please advise at your earliest convenience.

Thanks,

Trav

**jeezo man there seem to have been a lot of disasters lately**

5. Duh ... need sleep
I am beginning to confuse calamities. Meant "tsunami". The typhoon was a while back. Right.

4. Already did
There is an email contact but no positive protocol on the Japanese Embassy site for getting help to a specific location.

I forwarded the email addy on and am expecting to hear back shortly. Of course, I would like confirmation that they are in the queue (I'm sure there is a long line of folk needing help) and if possible a rough ETA.

Anyone got family in the military over there that might have a better contact number, for example?

I'm afraid my friends over there might have trouble maintaining contact in the near future due to conditions.

Thanks,

Trav

3. Typhoon!!!!! **smacks forehead** I meant tsunami.
Jeeze I am getting my calamities confused. Earthquake. Tsunami was the word I was actually looking for. Pardon me, I'm little frazzled and bouncing between phone and web.

Yeah ... we could use any suggestions anyone might be able to come up with. They are running low on battery ...

Thanks,
