Wauwatosa. – Today, Scott Walker's campaign announced a record fundraising haul: $2.5 million with 21,049 individual donations, 71% of which were from individuals giving $50 or less.

“Our campaign isn’t about special interest money or million dollar donations – our campaign is about everyday Wisconsin families ready to end the Doyle-Barrett legacy of sky-high taxes, out of control spending, and bigger government,” said campaign manager Keith Gilkes. “The overwhelming majority of Scott’s $2.5 million raised has yet again come from individuals giving $50 or less, with supporters not only contributing, but also organizing and volunteering - that’s the type of momentum that will show real results in November.”

Walker finished the reporting period with $2.5 million cash on hand. These fundraising totals build upon his overwhelming grassroots support in every county in Wisconsin. In each of his previous finance reporting periods, nearly three quarters of Walker’s donations have also come from individuals donating $50 or less. Recent polling shows Walker with a commanding lead over his opponents, and Walker’s grassroots powerhouse continues to sweep across the state. Walker’s campaign has announced a goal of 65,000 phone calls and knock on 6,500 doors on July 24th. This spring, Walker received the endorsement of thousands of grassroots supporters at the GOP state convention with 91.3% of the vote.

Scott Walker serves as Milwaukee County executive. He was elected eight years ago when he joined with everyday families in taking back their government after a pension scandal rocked the community, costing taxpayers millions. After being elected on a promise clean up county government and spend taxpayer money as if it were his own, over the past eight years Scott and his wife Tonette have given over $370,000 of Scott’s personal salary back to the taxpayers. Walker packs his own brown bag lunch to save money in his family budget, and has approached his county budget the same way, cutting out waste and doing more with less. Walker has cut the county debt by 10%, cut the county workforce by 20% and introduced eight consecutive budgets without an increase to the property tax levy from the previous year – even announcing an $8.9 million surplus in his most recent budget.

Walker and his wife Tonette live in Wauwatosa with their two sons, Matt and Alex.

NOTE: Scott Walker first broke the news of his record fundraising haul to supporters who signed up to receive text message updates by texting the word SCOTT to 46262.
