What will be our collective breaking point; the last straw which, when added to the heap of compromises and lies and betrayals, finally gets a few million of us off our asses and into the streers?
Stolen elections?
War crimes committed in our name?
Torture?
Warrantless searches?
Wholesale disregard of our Constitutional rights?
WAR, WAR, WAR?
The shameless transfer of wealth from the poor to the obsenely wealthy?
Equating corporations with people?
Putting Tommy Chong and Martha Stewart in prison, but not Scooter, or W, or Cheney or even one CEO from Big Banking, Big Insurance or Big Energy?l
What in hell will it take for us to admit that the jig is up---we don't live in a Democracy any longer, the "rule of law" is a sad joke and the only way to change things lies outside the current system?
Corporations, as surrogates for the plutocrats that own and control them, own and control most of the media. And, because they also own and control most of "our" government, there are virtually no regulations to seriously impede their dissemination of whatever propaganda they deem most expedient and profitable.
Corporations---by definition---exist solely to make a profit. Period. They do not have a conscience or a soul or a sense of patriotism, compassion or shame. They worship no god other than the bottom line.
And,corporations, ladies and gentlemen, own your ass and mine, as surely as though we had been purchased at auction. To the extent that we are treated humanely, it is only because that is "good business". After all, one doesn't damage one's property. If our death or our misery becomes more profitable, our "human rights" will evaporate like rain drops on a July afternoon.
As long as fools and whores are permitted to shout down our thinkers, our statesmen and our prophets, we have literally no chance of saving what was once the greatest and most just nation this small planet has ever known.
