Infographic: Tax Breaks vs. Budget Cuts/ You have got to see this
House leaders are unfortunately restricting their proposed budget cuts for the remainder of fiscal year 2011 to nonsecurity discretionary spending in an attempt to tame a $1.3 trillion deficit. This approach is especially shortsighted since the Federal Treasury loses twice as much revenue due to tax breaks than Congress appropriates on all nonsecurity discretionary spending.

The chart below compares the 10 safety-net programs slated for deep cuts with the cost of the tax breaks that should also be considered for reduction or elimination to bring the budget into balance. The column on the left is a list of safety-net programs that have already been targets of the House leadership’s budget ax. The column on the right is the cost to specified tax breaks (see bottom of page for sources).

1. Shared Sacrifice
I was watching Frank Luntz (GOP Pollster) on CSPAN Wash Journal this AM outrageously shilling some new book on how to win.

One caller from NY called in and asked him why "shared sacrifice" never included sacrifice from the uber rich that caused the mess? He completed side stepped it. No answer. There is no logical answer as to why the rich have not paid when they have cost us so much.

Every American needs to make this a talking point every chance they get with their elected officials, otherwise the politicians will do what they do best and shift the hurt from the greasy palms of the financial elite to working and middle class Americans, and the burden will be placed on those who have already been hurt.

5. I propose a compromise:
Eliminate all of the tax breaks in the right-hand column in exchange for ending the war in Afghanistan.

Everyone's a winner!

7. Excellent. That should be made into a few hundred million full-sized posters
and hanging on every struggling American family's refrigerator.
