Earliest evidence for magic mushroom use in Europe
Makes one wonder if the revelations of the founders of our modern religions were actually hallucinations.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20928025.400-earliest-evidence-for-magic-mushroom-use-in-europe.html

Look at the bottom right of this image

EUROPEANS may have used magic mushrooms to liven up religious rituals 6000 years ago. So suggests a cave mural in Spain, which may depict fungi with hallucinogenic properties - the oldest evidence of their use in Europe.

The Selva Pascuala mural, in a cave near the town of Villar del Humo, is dominated by a bull. But it is a row of 13 small mushroom-like objects that interests Brian Akers at Pasco-Hernando Community College in New Port Richey, Florida, and Gaston Guzman at the Ecological Institute of Xalapa in Mexico. They believe that the objects are the fungi Psilocybe hispanica, a local species with hallucinogenic properties.

BTW, I love New Scientist.

4. The fact that we all have chemical receptors in our brains
that are responsive to fungal molecules is evidence of an evolutionary relationship we share with the mushroom family. Ceremonial relationships to the fungals can be found in almost every human society throughout history.
Almost everyone who has ever partaken of the fungi can attest to a experience of "oneness" and a connection to the natural world that is missing, especially in western cultures.
Many fungiphiles believe that the human and the mushroom family are evolutionarily connected. The human conception of "god" may possibly be due to the historic consumption of psychedelics by peoples throughout the ages.

hallucination? Priests have no special knowledge.

We are our own god. We create everything we experience. When I take a photo, I create the universe as I see it. My experience is my creation. The priest and guru has created his or her own. It is not mine.

Aminita mushrooms, red with white dots, have several varieties, the ones that kill you the worst way to die can only be identified by the Spores. even then there is no guarantee they wont damage your liver or kill you.

i lived in WA and met many toxic Shroomers... beware, consult a Shaman FIRST.

They would be the best ones to tell you about mushrooms and the various ways that they can make you high or kill you.

17. Amintia is not a Psilocybe at all. So what is your point?
Even the Wiki you link to states the CDC says Psilocybin is less toxic than aspirin. Psilocybin does not damage the liver nor does it kill. Aminita is not Psilocybin, and they do not even look like it. Just an odd and confused post.
