What's with this fascination between Democratic presidents and the BFEE?
First there was Bill Clinton and Pappy Bush palling around like a couple of school chums, now we have Obama praising Jeb "I'm not Dubya" Bush for his "education reform".

I swear to god, I wonder if Pappy Bush put something in the White House drinking water.

7. I was actually surprised when George I
left office quietly. I half expected a coup of some kind. Now I realize that it wasn't necessary.

8. When they get elected, Presidents are automatically made part of the Bush Empire.
Edited on Sat Mar-05-11 05:03 PM by Major Hogwash
Started just after WWII with Prescott Bush, moved on to George HW Bush, and then to George W Bush.
Clinton told us in 2004 not to criticize George W Bush's war efforts in Iraq.

Guess he had a book to sell that summer.

11. As someone suggested in another thread...
Poisoning the well? There are still lots of rumors around that Jeb, or eventually his son, George P., might right for President one day. What better way to turn repugs against them and the rest of that putrid family than to have them be seen as friendly with the two MOST HATED Democrats there are?

Not. One. Shred.

25. They've shown no such thing. And here we are again with the endless links to other DU posts, rather
than any substantive evidence backing up your claims. Par for the course.

Save, of course, for "Michael Parenti, Phd.".... (:eyes:)

That's not endless. Pointless, maybe. The other ones include several of your replies, as well.

Something we've learned since Parenti's essay, the story of Secret Service Henry J. Rybka.

even one that had the slightest shred of credible proof to back up your claims.

Please try again.

24. They're all impostors anyway
What scares me is how little difference I see between "our" guys and theirs. Both sides are impostors working for corporate interests.

Seeing Obama with Jeb, and regarding education policy, really hurt. Also seeing Obama ram through Romney care.

Last night I watched Stiglitz and others testify (C-SPAN) to a TARP oversight committee. Not for the feint of heart. This administration has done very little for us. Cue a ProSense blue-linked post.

30. It's the War Party.
The late Chalmers Johnson described our situation as that of the American Empire. The warmonger corporate greedhead class know how to make a buck for themselves and their connected cronies. They have no clue how to do it fair and square, like FDR and JFK -- through peace.

There's still hope. That doesn't cost anything.
