Protesters Suspended for Calling Out Sick
Three union workers who called out sick to attend a labor rally at the New Jersey Statehouse last week have been suspended.

The move comes a day after Gov. Christie told NBC New York in an interview that "people who call in sick better be sick." Christie issued his warning ahead of another labor rally that drew thousands on Thursday.

Monmouth County officials said the three employees suspended without pay on Thursday work for the county's Senior Citizen Area Transportation service and are members of CWA Local 1038.

The county said the workers were among 14 in the department who called out sick; officials alleged that 174 developmentally disabled adults who depend on the county's services ended up "waiting for buses that never came."

"These employees are being suspended without pay based on the fact that we have evidence to prove that they were not home sick as they had claimed," said Lillian Burry, a county official.

1. They should be. Those poor people were left to fend for
themselves.

Mean and uncaring.

2. No they should all go out and shut down the state
Police, firefighters, all state employees should go out.

All union and other workers should also stay home and just shut the state down.

As long as the numbers are massive they can't do anything to them.

In my state teachers are not allowed to strike and they do not have collective bargaining.

They went on an illegal strike and nearly every teacher joined. They couldn't fire them all and they won a 5000 raise.

3. Oh! So NOW they are worried about services to disabled citizens recieving services...
ONLY when they can use their plight to their advantage.

Otherwise, it's major cuts to these citizens with disabilities...

Shocking and telling I tell you!

4. Herein lies the problem...
and in this case... the suspended union members fucked up...

"These employees are being suspended without pay based on the fact that we have evidence to prove that they were not home sick as they had claimed," said Lillian Burry, a county official.

State Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth), who first complained of a "sick-out," applauded officials for the suspension, noting some workers were "caught on camera" at last week's rally.

Want to call in sick when you're really not in order to attend a protest?

Fine... but a little bit of common sense and discretion should be in order.

At least keep a low profile, disguise yourself a bit, and by all means avoid a situation where you could be caught on camera.

What makes it even more idiotic... is that it's no secret that unions are under very heavy scrutiny right now; the people that got caught fucked up... plain and simple.

Doing stupid ass shit like that only gives the other side more ammunition.

Fucking idiots.

7. this does not surprise me
Lillian Burry is behind this--- surprise surprise surprise. She's up for reelection this year but it's very unlikely she'll go down (one can hope right).
