56. "where are sacrifices of the rich"?
That should be repeated over and over again as often as possible, and Walker should be asked every time he appears in public, why he has not made them 'share the sacrifice' also?

RAISE TAXES ON THE RICH! That's how to solve any budget problems in Wisconsin and elsewhere. So, why are their taxing being cut??

Great photos, thanks for posting them.

Several hundred showed up, despite it being a "right to work" state.

In the background were the Anti-worker, teabaggers engrossed in their counter protesting. All ten of them

36. Report from NC Capitol link to the Puny/Distorted News Coverage...with Video at site.
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 06:42 PM by KoKo
We were there and this report is so distorted...but it's what we have learned to expect from our "bought media."

Anyway there were "estimates by the KoKo Family's eyes of about 500 to 600 Pro-Teachers, Unions of all ages at the Rally. Across the street there were "maybe" 100 Tea Partiers (generous estimate) who arrived with Bull Horns and Many American Flags. When we were there the protesters on either side were not "shouting at each other" as this News 14, North Carolina Video show...but it was the Tea Baggers with their Bull Horns shouting at US. Some of the "Baggers" shouts were: "Thank GOD for GLENN BECK!"..."We Won and You Lost"...and "We are Broke." None of us on the Left had a Bull Horn but we had Great signs.

Here's the Video, puny coverage from our only station reporting..at this time. The other one is doing Sports of the Gladiators.

----------
NEWS 14---CAROLINA!
RALEIGH—Pro and anti-union demonstrators chanted and shouted at each other in Raleigh on Saturday afternoon.

The State Employees Association of North Carolina and Move On.org held a rally at the state capitol building, designed to show support for workers in Wisconsin. A bill there would cause most Wisconsin public workers to lose collective bargaining rights.

The rally was scheduled for 12 p.m., but it heated up well before that, as anti-union activists showed up to counter protest. It did not take long for both sides to engage in a yelling match, chanting and shouting at each other. The counter-protesters were mainly members of various conservative groups who said the state and country, can not afford unions.
Nationwide rallies held in support of public workers

"We all have to take some cuts. I think they are wanting more. I think unions have caused a lot of the dysfunction in our industrial aspect," said conservative blogger Randy Dye.

The opposition only seemed to fuel the pro-union rally.

"I think it's really a question about are we going to continue a race to the bottom in this country, or are we going to stand up for good, middle class, hardworking families around the country?" said Dana Cope, director, SEANC.

Many of the government workers at the pro-union rally noted North Carolina workers have no collective bargaining rights. Similar rallies are planned in all 50 states.

47. I Was There
I went to the Chicago protest in support of the Wisconsin
unions. It was cold and snowy, but it felt good to be with
other people, who are fed up with what is happening to this
country and the middle class.

What a wonderful and unexpected surprise, to have our Senator
Dick Durbin, speaking at the rally. William McNary from the
Citizens Action Illinois, was such a POWERFUL speaker, I wish
he could have talked longer AND been seen on more T.V.
stations. He should be interviewed by reporters, as he has a
lot to say about the American worker and the American dream.

Channel 7 NBC news had a video of the protest and had him on.
All the news teams SHOULD have been out there, recording our
protests. I didn't see any others there.

Does anyone know if any other Chicago news station covered the
protest?

I hope that Moveon.org organizes MORE rallies, they say they
plan to, as long a Wisconsin needs our support.

We need to continue having rallies, until the Obama
administration starts STANDING UP to these bullies and
STANDING UP FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE and not the corporations.

What a great day, being able to have my voice heard, that's
what Democracy is all about.

Hopefully, more young people will get involved, and go to a
rally. Protesting is a great civics lesson, as it's democracy
in action, something that you can't learn in a text book.

...is NOT on their side.
That should get interesting.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans."

62. Well two things. . .
1) Chicago labor knows about Rahm and opposed him this election

2) I suspect Rahm is going to work with labor more than anyone expects him to. He knows what he needs to do to hold on to power.
