Is MSNBC shutting down labor story?
Watched Jansing over a cup of coffee and there were only two references in about an hour - one was a scroll that said an "agreement" had been reached by the Assembly, the other was a report by an on-scene reporter that had no protesters at all in evidence. The discussion that ensued left the impression that the "agreement" was settling the issue. Perhaps I didn't listen closely enough but I think I got the message that was intended.

After that I come to the internet and find out that Labor is expecting the biggest protest in WI's history today...

Are the Kochs et al cracking down with their economic influence?

15. MSNBC turns into the Lockup Channel every weekend.
I don't think it's personal, just stupid.

3. Hey, Anderson Cooper didn't even mention it last night
He found time for a segment on Christine O'Donnell's Dancing With the Stars invitation. But not one mention of Wisconsin that I could see.

I did have it on in the background while listening to Mike Malloy. But I was watching for a Wisconsin segment that never materialized.

4. Wait until Ed comes on the air - that will be the real acid test,
considering how out front he's been in helping to tell the story.

26. I notice that Ed is being marginalized.
He's not getting the promos the other shows get. He's only on four hours a week now. In one of the biggest labor stories of the decade, Tweety took over his hour on Monday to do a show on Bill Clinton, something that could have been done in Tweety's hour instead. I believe he's being squeezed out. Never mind, he still has his radio show and you never know he might jump over to Current TV along with Keith Olbermann.

5. Time to hit the network HQs then......
Actions at their front entrances and any other entrances that you can find. They're already starting to spin this as a Dem/Rep thing (Democratic "tea parties"), IOW, "politics as usual". Take back the message and take it TO them. DEMAND attention and coverage.

Make all the signs be primarily about the economic inequality, and only secondarily (if at all) about the Republicans.

14. That Sounds Reasonable
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 12:37 PM by kristopher
The claims that reduced coverage is due to the fact that "there is no news value" are undermined by the fact that up until yesterday there seemed to be CONSIDERABLE news value- it was the hottest story out there. Did public interest disappear the day after the role of the Kochs and the true motives of the Republicans was made undeniably clear?

10. Is There Any New News?
If not that's probably the reason. As others have said, I expect Ed and Rachel to keep on the story. Other than the 14 Senators returning or another Walker tape this situation has hit a stalemate. When someone blinks, that'll be news. In the meantime I'm checking blogs (not that the teevee ever offers much more than a recap on what I've already read) and also trying to get information about what's happening in other states.

11. People tune in to molotov cocktails. Peaceful rallies = low ratings.
Simple as that.
If the protestors want nat'l/intl coverage they might consider overturning some police cars.

27. The news from Libya is drowning out a lot of other stuff right now.
Wisconsin is important, but a brutal dictator is killing innocent people in Libya. That might be a bigger story..
