One of the persons aboard the hijacked Yacht off Somalia is Dr Robert A "Bob" Riggle...
Does anyone know if he is related to (or even the father of) Lt Col Robert Allan "Rob" Riggle, Jr, former Daily Show correspondent? I've googled to no avail.

Rob Riggle (for those who might not remember him):

2. These people should see this as an opportunity to spread the word
To fellowship with the pirates, give them a few bibles and maybe they can "save" them.

4. So... in THIS case piracy is ok?
I guess mocking someone for their beliefs and making light of piracy is A-OK with you...

7. No.
Nor is willfully going into places where one was loudly warned to stay away from, and then forcing our Navy and our government to have to deal with getting them out of there

9. Government handout?
One might call that asking for a government handout, if it weren't a religious conservative held hostage that is.

11. My understanding is that they were 250 miles off the coast.
If they were near shore that's one thing but I don't understand how the pirates can operate that far at sea.

19. The pirates apparently have a pretty sophisticated operation,
involving "mother-ships" and such, that the small speedboats operate off of. I can't recall if it was an NPR report, but I recall something about that several months back.

22. 250 miles off Oman, 500 miles off Somalia
It's a huge area which is dangerous - at least 500 by 1000 miles.

12. They set out on the world to evangelize others
The pirates could use some evangelical relationships. Maybe it would be the change they need.

In other-words, this is an opportunity for these people (both).

10. I saw that, although it doesn't really answer the question...
...another bit of circumstantial evidence - Rob was born in 1970; Dr Bob was born in 1943, so he's of the right age to be Rob's dad.

13. I doubt it
Rob Riggle's been happily tweeting all weekend without a mention of the hijacking. I think if a family member of his were in that situation, Rob wouldn't be tweeting stuff like:

"Thanks Philly for a great week!"
