Afghan Officials Allege 65 Civilians (30 Children) Killed in U.S. Military Operation
Source: Washington Post

KABUL--Afghan government officials alleged Sunday that a U.S. military operation in the remote mountains of northeastern Afghanistan killed 65 innocent people, including 22 women and more than 30 children, the most serious civilian casualty allegation in months.

The governor of Kunar province, Fazlullah Wahidi, said that NATO forces launched the operation four days ago in the Ghaziabad district, a desolate area near the province's northern border with Pakistan, where a lethal mix of insurgent groups operate.

"According to locals in the area, American helicopters have been constantly bombing the village and have caused tremendous civilian casualties," Wahidi said in an interview. He said he received his information from residents "trapped," in the villages.

American commanders went into crisis mode Sunday and launched an investigation into the incident to find out what happened and prevent the episode from damaging relations with the Afghan government.

2. And people wonder why a bank was attacked
killing 38 people. It is natural to retaliate. You can't expect to murder people with impunity. The West is creating terrorists - guess it fuels the military industrial complex.

What a fugging mess.

5. Endlessly chasing the tribal people of Afghanistan around in the mountains
seems like an incredible waste of resources, lives and goodwill. Last I read, the US military estimates that LESS THAN 50 Al Queda are in Afghanistan.

This line highlights the insanity that is consuming our military and our country:

"American commanders went into crisis mode Sunday and launched an investigation into the incident to find out what happened and prevent the episode from damaging relations with the Afghan government."

What government? Don't they really mean the Mayor of Kabul Hamid Karzai and his highly corrupt cronies?

Also, does anyone believe that if the above incident is true that the US has just manufactured a whole bunch more people that want to kill Americans?

The insanity of it all is astounding!
