Gulf oil spill: is the Mexican coast okay?
I can't find much current info. The google shows mostly stuff that's nearly a year old. We're traveling to Cancun in April, and I'm really curious if there's been migration of the oil that far south. Don't want to be swimming in Corexit! Any know anything, or can point me to some current information? Thnx in advance.

3. Maybe the GOP is right...all that oil just miraculously disappeared.
It's amazing how the whole thing just fell off the radar screen. Our media is so awesome!

4. Yes. It's OK. The currents in the Gulf push the oil away from Mexico
You can see how it works in these graphs. The currents of the world show that the Global Conveyor current that flows into the Gulf comes from the south Atlantic and loops in the Gulf of Mexico to then exit going around Florida and to the north Atlantic. So the coast of Yucatan has a current that actually pushes the oil spill away from it.

5. Thanks, that was helpful...I think.
I assume that chart on the right is just illustrating the current, and that that big brown stuff that appears to go right off the coast isn't actually oil. Tell me I'm correct, please!

8. I think you are taking chances no matter what part you end up in.
BP fucked over the gulf for decades, hopefully we won't see too many people die from their negligence.
