PHOENIX -- In spite of their tough rhetoric, Republican lawmakers in Washington want to cut big bucks from border security and immigration enforcement.
This week, GOP leaders proposed to slash $600 million in funding.
On Thursday, several Arizona sheriffs gathered at the Capitol to shed a light on how the cuts will hurt efforts to crack down on drug cartels and human smugglers.
"The funds they're talking about would go toward the dang fence. I believe we need the dang fence, so why are we cutting the money for it," said Navajo County Sheriff K.C. Clark.
Cuts to the Border Patrol alone would total nearly 41 million dollars

When they legislated to build this fence, nobody from either side of the aisle asked where they money should come from. Am I wrong? Did one single Rep even mention that we couldn't afford the cash outlay?
