Protests force moving Madison's Winter Festival from Cap Square
Event Will Be Held At Elver Park

Updated: 11:18 am CST February 18, 2011

MADISON, Wis. -- The city of Madison is moving the seventh annual Winter Festival scheduled for the Capitol Square this weekend to Elver Park on the city's West Side.

The annual festival brings top international cross-country skiers to race around the square. The events also holds other events for children and families, including sledding and snowshoeing, organizers said.

The festival has to be moved because of union protests around the state Capitol that are expected to continue through the weekend, officials said.

That should clear the Square for tomorrow's expected protests, and counter-protests. Tomorrow will be a news maker.
