But what about the millions who were dealt that hand?

I just can't believe how teachers, of all fucking people, TEACHERS, are being targeted and savaged ly attacked.

Teachers challenge. Teachers mold. Teachers RULE!!!

And they do it because they love what they do. My fondest memories growing up are of teachers who were able to see beyond my bullshit whatever promise I possessed.

I would not have made it out of the ghetto if it had not been for caring, dedicated teachers.

And now they are one of several public servants being vilified as being greedy and unreasonable. These people (the Republican machine) have no fucking soul.

But of course, that's not fair to children, who are innocent. But in a world where all people get what they deserve, that's what would happen - a parent would need to sacrifice the extra income in order to educate their children. Or else work the night shift somewhere.

A lifetime later (she taught in the early 1900s), she would still get choked up telling me about the students she tried to help, the successes and the failures. *sigh* As for my own teachers, I have such fond memories of so many of them, too. They saw through my bullshit, recognized what I had to offer, and it couldn't always have been easy... LOL. Teachers really do rock.

16. I was thinking of retraining as a teacher

because that had always been a passion of mine. I used to make worksheets in the summer for my brothers and teach in our clubhouse. But given the current climate, I'm not going to accrue a bunch of new debt to face such disdain and uncertainty.

I think it already had been difficult to attract top talent into teaching. Now it will be impossible. But an uneducated, uninformed populace is the GOP's best friend.
