The Impact of State Budget Cuts on Disabled Residents
The Impact of State Budget Cuts on Disabled Residents

Lynchburg, VA - The proposed state budget could leave dozens of disabled residents in our area without the help they need.

According to the Lynchburg Area Center for Independent Living, the budget includes a 10 percent reduction in funding for the center and a five percent reduction in Medicaid provider fees.

To make up the difference, officials have planned to end the "Personal Attendant Services" program for residents in Bedford and Bedford County. The program allows disabled individuals to hire someone to help them at their home.

Officials at LACIL say the state's budget cuts really won't save any money at all.
