John Nichols on Thom Hartmann now. He's a resident of Madison.

3/5 of legislators must be present for a quorum!

"This is a very, very patriotic, very American protest."

"What's happening is beyond Wisconsin now. Retirees from KS, steelworkers from MI, teachers from Nebraska...."

"Scott does not want to call out the National Guard - then he will have lost."

2,000 people came on Monday, 12,000 came on Tuesday, 15 - 25,000 on Wednesday
predicts 35 - 40,000 today and it's spreading across the nation.

"People are getting it." He saw a big banner that said "Go to hell, Fox News."

"No one who is here has ever seen anything like it."

Edited for typo

1. Hubby and I were talkijng about the NG
the rank and file are in the streets right now. What happens when you call them and half don't report for duty? We are at one of those moments. Him not wanting to call them must have been a star or two telling the governmor about that realisty.

2. Funny you should mention...
My first thought about the NG was wondering how many would show up and if that had something to do with the decision not to call them out.

The rubber meets the road!

3. A caller into the show - UW student
is saying it's not just young people showing up - many middle agers, too.

There are reporters on the scene, but he thinks they're mostly local.
