I know some folks here rail about it being a popularity contest but I don't see it that way.

I see it as a way to spread smiles and good feelings.
Its really such a little thing that can turn someones day right around in an instant.

And I have participated and witnessed other posters scouring the boards in search of posters who don't have hearts just to remedy that. So it's not all about popularity.Plus its big fun!!!!

17. If you were honest you'd admit that those grade school days were hell for some kids

on Valentine's Day, and for many those memories are not good. Even if your memories are fond, just try and imagine how it might of been for others and engage a little empathy.

Though honesty has nothing to do with it, it's more a matter of recognition. And while I understand why some may not want to participate, as is their right, why can't the reverse also be true? I don't think those who do want to participate should feel guilty for wanting to do so.

20. In fourth grade, there was a kid in our class that everyone disliked.

He was weird, smelled funny. You know how mean kids can be. One of the other boys started a campaign that no one should give him a valentine. Everyone got on board, even me. But when Valentine's morning came, I thought about how I would feel if everyone around me got valentines & I got none, so I made one out to him too. At school, I told my best friend. She smiled & said that she too, made out a valentine for the boy. He ended up with three valentines. At recess, he asked us why we gave him valentines since he knew the whole class agreed not to. My friend piped up, "Because we're not jerks."

Some of my least favorite DUers get the most hearts. ~lol

If you really want to show you care, buy someone a star.
