Listening to William Cohen on Cenk just now
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 06:15 PM by elias49
I was reminded how I always liked Cohen.
He seems to be very level-headed, and yet on point, articulate and fair.
(Not so much with Allbright or Kissinger)
Good man.

edit:

Ooops. Mixed Defense and State. My bad.
But....

6. Still alive, that is.
There were some pretty decent ones in the past, and even better than just decent. One has a birthday tomorrow.

2. You put Albright and Kissinger on the same level?
Really?

really?

I also think Cohen is level headed but you managed to ruin your own post with such a ridiculous comparison.

7. I don't understand your post.
I DO NOT put Kissinger or Albright on on the same level as Cohen.
Are you referencing some comparison (that I didn't make) between A & K?
??
What ridiculous comparison?
Yeah, I stupidly stood Secs of State next to a Sec of Defense....but in terms of statesmanship, Cohen is head and shoulders above either.

3. A good Republican.
He was part of the Republican House that pushed Nixon out of office. He'd never make it in today's Republican Party.

5. The Reason He Bailed...
He walked away from a lifetime seat in the Senate from Maine cause he saw the fetid right beginning to coopt the party. Not long ago I heard him and his wife, Janet Lockhart, talk about the soul searching they went through during the 90s and how "the party left him"...he now considers himself an independent.

4. Agreed.. Cohen is excellent.
I always admired him for his intelligence and balance and straigtforward non-political view point.
