Michele Bachmann's $225 "Makeup/Hair Design" bill
A $400 haircut almost sank John Edwards' campaign (until he sank it himself). What will Bachmann's Teabagging base think of her high-priced primping?

6. This didn't happen in NYC
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 02:23 PM by atreides1
This was done in Minnesota...so it is a little excessive

9. Still not excessive.
"She goes around with her on the bus."

So she is pretty much giving up a day of appointments and if this was NYC that would easily run $1,500 so $225 is a bit of a bargain.

13. You might
want to rent the Cris Rock documentary Good Hair to see what quite a few of that 99% are willing to pay.

11. That's fairly normal for women
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 02:52 PM by notesdev
$400 for a guy's haircut, especially one that could realistically be replicated by placing a salad bowl over the guy's head and cutting any hair that sticks out underneath the edge, is obscene. Your average male in this country gets his hair cut for $15.

edit: oh, but Bachmann still ought to sue for malpractice, unless she specifically ordered the "Tammy Faye Bakker" look.

14. She is on the national stage
I'm not defending her, because I loathe everything she stands for. But, as a professional woman who is frequently expected to dress the part, I can assure DUers that this is not an excessive amount to spend on one's personal grooming, especially if you are someone in the public eye, appearing on TV, etc. A couple of hours of hair color and cut can easily cost that much in any major metropolitan area.

As long as the taxpayers are not footing the bill for her hairdos, then there's nothing to discuss.

Everyone goes broke at their own level. And cracks about people's appearances do nothing to elevate the level of discourse.

15. that's cheap. And looks it.
Trust me, a hell of a lot of women in the Teaps get their hair colored (they are over 50 FGS!) and that's a couple of hundred at a midrange salon. or so muy older gfs tell me (giggle)
