We get from evil to false via their shared connection to a word such as "wrong" and we get from false to stupid via personalizing of the discussion. From stupid via exaggeration, we complete the journey.

There's nothing unusual about flame-wars. In the vast majority of cases, a flame-war can erupt only when there is a change of topic, often from something relatively impersonal to not just something personal, but to an actual person.

There's nothing unusual about people saying that a plan is "stupid." Of course, a plan isn't a kind of entity that can possess intelligence, because it has no cognitive faculty and is merely a fixed construct.

It's rather long-winded to say "in this context, the falseness of some particular statement is very clear or obvious." Instead, people might express a similar idea via focus on a real or imaginary person who claims (or seems to believe) that the statement is true. The person is labeled as "foolish" or "stupid."
