Lugar tells Tea Party to 'get real'

By Michael O'Brien - 02/08/11 01:14 PM ET

Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.) chided Tea Party activists in his state, telling them to "get real" about their opposition to the New START treaty.

Lugar, who voted for the treaty's confirmation late last year, dismissed the Tea Party's criticism of his vote, as Lugar heads into a primary where he's expected to face a challenge from the conservative, activist movement.

"I've got to say 'Get real,'" Lugar told an Indiana CBS affiliate. "I hear Tea Party or other people talking about they were against START. I said 'Well, now, hang on here.'"

Lugar has said he expects a challenge from the Tea Party, and is gearing up to fight in that race to secure nomination for another term.

7. Unless they find Dick Lugar with a dead girl or live boy, he ain't gonna lose

This whole "we're gonna beat Lugar" bullshit is just more relentless marketing of the "Tea Party" by the mainstream media. It is rather stunning thing to witness the saturation of coverage for a group that is simply a wing of the Republican Party.

These assclowns have no chance of beating Lugar in Indiana yet we will be beat over the head relentlessly by mainstream media telling us that the "Tea Party" is a force that just might take Lugar's seat in the Senate. Complete nonsense!
