Stand with Planned Parenthood.
The House is voting today on H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Money for Abortion Act, which would would allow a hospital to deny an abortion to a woman whose life is threatened and the hospital would not even be required to refer her to another hospital who could save her life. The truth: There is no taxpayer money being spent on abortion. The Affordable Care Act does not spent any taxpayer money on abortion. The Hyde Act, first passed in 1976, as a response to Roe v. Wade, is renewed annually and prevents taxpayer money from being spent on abortions. Republicans know that, but they pretend otherwise for their own purposes. Read the NYT's Gail Collins' The Siege of Planned Parenthood

STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD

The anti-choice fringe is attacking Planned Parenthood like never before. They are coming after us in Congress and in statehouses across the country. They are sending undercover film crews into Planned Parenthood health centers to secretly tape our doctors, nurses, and other staff. They are spreading lies about who we are and what we do.

They want to eliminate reproductive health care, family planning and sex education for millions. They want to make abortion illegal. We will not let them.

An open letter to state legislatures, Congress, law enforcement and the media

I'm standing with Planned Parenthood

Dear (Decision Maker),

The past few weeks have brought increasing attacks on Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. These attacks are dishonest, and they are dangerous.

Anti-choice activists have lied their way into local Planned Parenthood health centers and fabricated a story about a child sex trafficking ring -- a serious and horrific crime that no one should exploit for their own political agenda. And, unfortunately, it is just the latest in the escalation of attacks that include Representative Smith's bill to ban private insurance coverage for abortion for millions of women and Representative Pence's bill to defund local Planned Parenthood clinics, so that they can no longer provide family planning, birth control, or preventive care to millions of women.

These dirty tricks are not new. Our opponents resort to lies because lies are all they have. The truth is that Planned Parenthood gives millions of women the means to control their own reproductive health, from sex education to birth control. They are the leading voice for women's reproductive health and rights. They've been at it for 90 years, and they aren't going anywhere.

I'm standing with them today to make sure of it -- and that is the truth.

The time has come for everyone who cares about women's health to fight back against the lies and the dirty tricks. I am calling on you to stand up for women's health, and for the truth.

1. I stand for cheap health care
And PP has always been there for those of us who had little or no health coverage
so we could get pap smears, birth control and tests for STD.
PP should be held up, not torn down.

3. I think it's time for another rally in DC like the one back in April 2004
That was a great rally - we had over a million people show up for that one.

5. I wish I could go. Sigh. I used to participate in pro-choice rallies in
Dallas in the late '80s and early '90s, including standing support at clinics. And now that I'm beyond childbearing age, I may not need the legal aspects of reproductive health, but I'm not going to let the troglodytes take over women's reproductive health issues without a fight.

And yes, PP does so much more than than birth control and abortions.

7. Rec!
I was at the March for Women's Lives - and yes - it was a great one. I always stand with Planned Parenthood.

The GOP and its fringe can keep chipping away at women's rights but go too far and this country will come unglued. People just need to wake up.

the hearing room--altho they were making no disturbance whatsoever. They did, however, seem to shake up the Republican chairman, Rep Trent Franks, AZ.

Rep. Jerold Nadler, D-NY, the ranking member, is now speaking. 'This is a war against women and their families.'
