BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The founder of a Muslim-oriented New York television station has been convicted of beheading his wife in 2009.

Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan (moo-ZAHM'-mel Mo HAH'-sahn) never denied that he killed Aasiyah (AH'-see-ya) Hassan inside the suburban Buffalo station the couple established to promote cultural understanding. A jury on Monday rejected his claim he was the victim of spousal abuse.

Hassan acted as his own lawyer during the trial in Buffalo.

The Pakistan-born Hassan has been in custody since Feb. 12, 2009, when he walked into the Orchard Park police station and told officers his wife was dead. Her decapitated body was found at the studios of Bridges TV in town.

4. I'm always angered about violence...
I'm talking about the demonization of Muslims.

It angers me when alleged Christians kill doctors and set medical offices on fire, but I don't blame all Christians.

Muslims have laws about murder, and about vigilantism.

5. You gotta admit they have the corner on beheading people these days.
It is sort of strange. Why behead someone when stabbing and shooting is so popular? And who else stones people to death? What's the attraction? No one has the corner on murder but I'm sure preferred methods of offing someone would be an interesting sociological study.

8. No they don't. You haven't been paying attention to the drug war in Mexico
obviously. Lot's of beheadings right on our border. We've had a mother in this country who beheaded her own child. So, no, no one has a corner on violence, but if anyone did, if you just add up the numbers of murdered people by cruel and barbaric means, the U.S. corners the market on that right now. Unless you think blowing apart little children, their mothers and fathers, disabled people, old, young is more civilized than beheading them, or dropping white phospherous on them.

Dead is dead. The guy was a nutcase. His ethnicity has little to do with it.

When 'Muslims' as a group of one billion people people have killed as many people as the U.S. has and continues to do on a daily basis in the most brutal and barbaric of ways, then you might say 'muslims have a corner' on it.

10. Given that I made clear that no one has the corner on murder, I don't

appreciate your rant. Before 2006 beheadings were unheard of in Mexico, in fact in HuffPost today there is article about that very thing. Mexicans can thank AQ because drug gangs took their cue from the Nick Berg beheading in 2004.

We know where Mexicans assholes got the idea but where did AQ get the idea? What other terrorist group has ever beheaded people? And forget the whataboutery, the issue here is beheading and however you want to spin it AQ popularized this form of murder just like Tamil Tigers developed and popularized suicide bombing.

The undercurrent of violence in America has been well documented. Every aspect of American life has been put under the microscope. Do you think it racist for anyone in the world to conclude that Americans have an obsession with firarms and/or violence? The German pysche has also been put under the microscope and many unflattering conclusions have been drawn to explain the Holocaust. I think Middle Eastern countries need to start turning their attention to their owh pysches and come to terms with the darker undercurrents in their societies.

2. "they wanted to counter negative stereotypes and media portrayals of Muslims in a post-9/11 world"
Almost reads like a parody.

What a horrific story.

9. Bridges TV carries Amy Goodman's Democracy Now, but it's a day late.
Comcast would likely drop Bridges TV if they knew about the Amy Goodman thingy.
