Christian conservatives want their kids to be able to say "fa--ot" in school
Edited on Sun Feb-06-11 04:18 PM by RandySF
With greater awareness among policymakers about the problem of pervasive anti-gay bullying in schools, the Religious Right has stepped-up their efforts to misleadingly label anti-bullying policies as “homosexual propaganda.” Focus on the Family warned of “activists who want to promote homosexuality in kids,” David Barton dismissed accounts of bullying and condemned alleged “homosexual indoctrination,” and the Minnesota Family Council blamed the LGBT community for bullying by endorsing an “unhealthy lifestyle.”

Now, the California Family Council (CFC) is escalating its own attacks against anti-bullying initiatives in schools. The CFC is affiliated with Focus on the Family and was highly involved in the campaign to pass Proposition 8. The CFC is now turning its attention to combating what it calls the new “cause célèbre of homosexual activists,” implementing anti-harassment policies. The CFC’s Rebecca Burgoyne spoke to the American Family Association’s news service OneNewsNow about their work fighting anti-bullying policies under the guise of protecting free speech:

A pro-family activist is taking to task a prominent homosexual-rights group for camouflaging its true agenda behind the banner of "bullying" in public schools.

Rebecca Burgoyne, research analyst with California Family Council, tells OneNewsNow that children across The Golden State are being indoctrinated with a pro-homosexual message. She maintains that the Obama administration and homosexual lobbyists are advancing an agenda that silences religious speech and the rights of parents.

I wonder what their position is on other kids bullying other kids for being religious (esp. Christian)?

It's WWJB -- Who Would Jesus Bully?

Can't you see Christ punching some weak gay kid over and over while holding him in a Bush-esque headlock with three of the apostles helping guard the door in the school's Boys restroom?

I mean, you know the guy who professes 'Love one another' was only kidding when he said that shit, right? Really, he just wants to get his beatdown on.

are NOT necessarily one and the same. You have no ATHEIST parents? You don't have any GAY parents of kids? PUBLIC school is for all/NO religions, and DIVERSE family situations; not just married men and women with 2.1 kids. Duh?????

Why are these people so STUPID?

15. I used to think it was their life experiences that made them so intolerant and
hostile to anything that does not fit their perceived mold in life. Now, more and more, I'm beginning to think it's a hard wired brain function. There is no compromising with these people, there is no tolerance, there is no fairness, there is no logic with them, it's just hard wired reactions with no rationale intelligent thinking. Frankly, it's very scary.

27. Dr. Bob Altemeyer's - The Authoritarians - free PDF book
(btw John Dean consulted with Dr Bob when writing Conservatives Without Conscience)

http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/

Quote:

OK, what’s this book about? It’s about what’s happened to the American government lately. It’s about the disastrous decisions that government has made. It’s about the corruption that rotted the Congress. It’s about how traditional conservatism has nearly been destroyed by authoritarianism. It’s about how the “Religious Right” teamed up with amoral authoritarian leaders to push its un-democratic agenda onto the country. It’s about the United States standing at the crossroads as the next federal election approaches.

“Well,” you might be thinking, “I don’t believe any of this is true.” Or maybe, you’re thinking, “What else is new? I’ve believed this for years.” Why should a conservative, moderate, or liberal bother with this book? Why should any Republican, Independent, or Democrat click the “Whole Book” link on this page?

Because if you do, you’ll begin an easy-ride journey through some very relevant scientific studies I have done on authoritarian personalities--one that will take you a heck of a lot less time than the decades it took me. Those studies have a direct bearing on all the topics mentioned above. So if you think the first paragraph is a lot of hokum, or full of half-truths, I invite you to look at the research.

snip

Don’t think for a minute this doesn’t concern you personally. Let me ask you, as we’re passing the time here, how many ordinary people do you think an evil authority would have to order to kill you before he found someone who would, unjustly, out of sheer obedience, just because the authority said to? What sort of person is most likely to follow such an order? What kind of official is most likely to give that order, if it suited his purposes? Look at what experiments tell us, as I did.

If, on the other hand, you’re way ahead of me, and believe the extreme right-wing elements in America are poised to take it over, permanently, I think you can still get a lot from this book. The studies explain so much about these people. Yes, the research shows they are very aggressive, but why are they so hostile? Yes, experiments show they are almost totally uninfluenced by reasoning and evidence, but why are they so dogmatic? Yes, studies show the Religious Right has more than its fair share of hypocrites, from top to bottom; but why are they two-faced, and how come one face never notices the other? Yes, their leaders can give the flimsiest of excuses and even outright lies about things they’ve done wrong, but why do the rank and file believe them? What happens when authoritarian followers find the authoritarian leaders they crave and start marching together?

30. That's been my experience. I once mentioned Jesus' "least among you"
quote (can't remember word for word, but you likely know the one) to a colleague that I didn't know at the time belonged to a Bible-thumping denom.

In response, she said "Jesus is NOT the least among us! How dare you say that?!" I was dumbstruck; I couldn't even come up with a cogent response. Not that it would have mattered if I did.

20. Yes, because they believe it's a "behavior"
That can be "corrected" by abuse.

I think we're either seeing the last gasps of a system that can't abide by science, or we're seeing science once again destroyed by people who don't want to hear it.

9. It is Their Pro-Bullying Agenda that is being Camoflaged
Their little darlings bully anybody they can.
Their parents are so proud of this that they have bumper stickers saying "My kid beat up your honor student"
because they despise anybody smarter than they are, and they raise their kids to be just like themselves.

These bullies call their victims "faggots" even before they're old enough to know what it means.

Jeff Sharlet "The Family" http://books.google.com/books?id=NVmcx-8zdGEC&pg=PA309#v=onepage&q&f=false

Quote: Linda had seen with her own eyes the sex demons that make homosexuals rebel against God, and she said they were gruesome; but she did not name them, for she would not "give demons glory." They are all the same, she said. "It's radicalism." She reached across the table and touched my hand. "I have to tell you, the spiritual battle is very real." We are surrounded by demons, she explained, redciting the lessons she had learned in her small-group studies at New Life. The demons are cold; they need bodies; they long to come inside. People let them in tow different ways. One is to be sinned against. "Molested," suggested lInda. The other is to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You could walk by a sin - a murder, a homosexual act - and a demon might leap onto your bones. Cities, therefore, are especially dangerous.

that was the most scared family I had ever met and I have an anxiety disorder. The mother was like Mrs. Bennett in Pride & Prejudice with delusions of being stalked by satinatic groups including a devil motorcycle gang who she claimed circled her house all night. I had insomnia that night and didn't hear a thing nor was there a single tire track to mar her lawn the next day. I felt so sorry for her and the rest of the family and wished I could convince them to get therapy or at least go to a saner church that didn't reinforce her delusisions (or compulsive lies, not sure how much she said she really believed...)
