4. Should we thank Lady Gaga as well?
She was the one who told people to call Senator Reid's office back in September to force a vote on DADT before the new Congress came in.

5. I just hope that this doesn't become a case of
"Shut up about marriage and jobs, gays! The small percentage of you who are physically eligible to join the military can do so now! God, aren't you people EVER satisfied?!"

Except that I see from scanning the OPs here that this sentiment is already being expressed. *sigh*

7. Not at all
All I'm saying is, celebrate this victory and reflect that it only happened after protracted resistance against injustice, as are all worthwhile campaigns are.

This is, by NO means, the end... Merely, one victory with more to come.

Things are getting better, even if some others refuse to admit it.

11. They tried to do that when slavery ended. They tried to do that when we
earned the right to vote. They tried to do that when we ended racial segregation and Jim Crow.

The point that I think the OP is making is that change takes time. We continue to fight for our beliefs and for what is right.

We still got a long way to go.

9. Many of us have been trying to convince people of this fact. Nothing happens overnight.
People are angry at Obama because they wanted change in less than two years. I hope that we've all learned a valuable lesson this past week. It takes time and sometime incremental change is the best way to proceed.

Hang in there, everyone! We're all on the same team!! :toast:

13. No shit!
This is what Obama said for over a year and a half during the presidential campaign and said the same thing on election night 2008 but people here conveniently forget that.
