**It was just before halftime when a man standing on the Harvester sideline said something to the student about the player he was guarding. The student told Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips that the comments left him terrified.

“I looked at the man, and he was like, ‘Touch that little boy again. I ought to shoot you … you little f-in' N-word,” the student said.**

They've ID'd the hateful and ugly person who bullied and frightened a child. Unknown if any action will follow. It should be actionable under GA's "Terrorist Threat" law, a felony offence.

I don't believe he'll be charged, unless there is a huge public outcry.

1. This breaks my heart
How does a grown person justify scaring a kid like that. So hateful. As a person who follows the teachings of Jesus, I can tell you, that man is no Christian. And that school should, at the very least, ban this idiot from all sporting events. He has shamed his own child with his hateful behavior. My heart goes out to this young man and his family.

2. Article doesn't identify him as Christian.
He's not civilized, that's for sure, whatever his belief system.

3. I've noticed if the perpetrator is white and Christian...
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 09:51 AM by jtrockville
...it tends not to be mentioned. However if skin color is other than white, or religion is other than Christian, that info is front and center. Why is that?

6. The sad story of "news" reporting in this country.
A mixture of sensationalism and political affiliation filter our news.

7. White perps are treated as individuals, while everyone else is associated with
their ethnic group to reinforce stereotypes.

Yup.

4. No they don't say if he was a "Christian".... however both schools were Christian schools...
and it was the home team fan that yelled the slurs.

5. There's probably a connection.
I just didn't want my thread 'jacked into a discussion of "true" Christians.

This man is a beast, despite his party affiliations and beliefs (though both can be assumed).

8. Did not mean to offend
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 07:32 PM by dddem
or imply that 'Christian' people should behave better than others, I only mentioned it because of the fact that it was a Christian school. As a former Catholic, and Catholic school grad, this man's behavior goes against everything I was taught as a child. Mostly, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. :D
Peace.

10. I'm not offended, dddem
We do have a fairly large group of Christian apologist infiltrators who try to twist discussions to address their favorite topic; ie, that all bigotry, hatred and violence committed by Christians are performed by the "not-real-Christians".

It's disruptive and pointless.

I treat all those posts alike: I refuse to be dragged off topic.

Unfortunately, outraged progressive Christians sometimes get slighted unintentionally.

12. Won't take the bait.
Could be I'm speaking of "you" instead of "they".

Peace, Insha'Allah!
