3. Will do. I understand the evildoers holding him allow him...
... no internet access, 1 hr. tv (Fox?), 1 hr. of "supervised" exercise and 23 hours of solitary confinement.

Oh. And they are "medicating" him.

They're so kind.

6. War criminals walk free & go on book tours,
while this young man is tortured with extreme solitary confinement.

The Inhumane Conditions of Bradley Manning's Detention
by Glen Greenwald

http://www.salon.com/news/wikileaks/index.html?story=/opinion/greenwald/2010/12/14/manning

snip...

From the beginning of his detention, Manning has been held in intensive solitary confinement. For 23 out of 24 hours every day -- for seven straight months and counting -- he sits completely alone in his cell. Even inside his cell, his activities are heavily restricted; he's barred even from exercising and is under constant surveillance to enforce those restrictions. For reasons that appear completely punitive, he's being denied many of the most basic attributes of civilized imprisonment, including even a pillow or sheets for his bed (he is not and never has been on suicide watch). For the one hour per day when he is freed from this isolation, he is barred from accessing any news or current events programs. Lt. Villiard protested that the conditions are not "like jail movies where someone gets thrown into the hole," but confirmed that he is in solitary confinement, entirely alone in his cell except for the one hour per day he is taken out.

In sum, Manning has been subjected for many months without pause to inhumane, personality-erasing, soul-destroying, insanity-inducing conditions of isolation similar to those perfected at America's Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado: all without so much as having been convicted of anything. And as is true of many prisoners subjected to warped treatment of this sort, the brig's medical personnel now administer regular doses of anti-depressants to Manning to prevent his brain from snapping from the effects of this isolation.

*bold emphasis added

We have truly lost our way.

7. Let's let him know he is NOT alone
Let's surround him with some DU love, support, courage, acknowledgment that revealing war crimes should not be against the law...am I naive to think our letters might actually reach him? I'll let y'all know if I get any kind of response. I'm sending my first letter today.

9. Chances are your letter will be rejected but send it again. From the website:
"Tips for sending cards to Bradley: Remember, Bradley will only get to see the outside of the envelope the first time you send him a letter. We recommend you consider sending a postcard so he gets to see the picture. You may have to send several letters before one gets through. To facilitate this, consider making three copies of your first letter- then send it 3 times, one time per week for 3 weeks. With luck, the third letter will get through! Above all, don’t get discouraged if the letters are returned to you. Bradley Manning needs your unwavering support."
