Mubarak gives army shoot-to-kill order
Source: PressTV

Embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has reportedly given his armed forces the authority to shoot-to-kill as anti-government protests gain momentum.

Reports say the army has been ordered to shoot when it sees fit. Military helicopters and jet fighters fly over major locations as the numbers of protesters multiply there.

Tens of thousands of people have practically taken over the Tahrir Square in the city center despite heavy military presence, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Clashes between demonstrators and police have left at least 150 people dead and thousands more wounded since anti-Mubarak rallies began in Cairo, Suez and Alexandria on Tuesday.

Protesters have one demand and that is the resignation of President Mubarak. They want a regime change and have dismissed Mubarak's appointment of a vice-president and prime minister.

6. This is what I feared. "Shoot to kill" is not a good thing.
I do not think this will end well. It already hasn't.

7. TPTB can't let it happen like this
A peaceful transition to democracy and showing our dictator the door is too powerful a message. It will spread like wildfire.

I hope things turn out for the best, but I don't think we've seen all of the cost of this yet.

8. The army has already said they will not fire on the people.
I think if Mubarak actually ordered the army to kill their fellow citizens, he'd quickly lose the army. They don't seem interested in hurting people. They were defending the demonstrators against Mubarak's secret police. They are asking citizens to police their communities. They've created a hotline for the demonstrators/citizens to call to report looters, whom they've seen first hand are secret police.

15. it's Press. About as reliable as Worldnut daily. They could be right about this
but I'll wait until it's confirmed in a reliable outlet.

17. Isn't PressTV Iranian propaganda?
The Iranian government is openly agitating for the Mubarak regime to fall since Egypt is one of the their major enemies.

I wouldn't trust a thing coming from this source...ever.

21. Of course.
Mubarak did 'appoint'

Omar Suleiman is many things to Egypt: spy chief, eminence grise to President Hosni Mubarak, point man for
Egypt's secret relations with Israel, and the bulwark between the Muslim Brotherhood and all the security
services that stand in its way.
Now he is Egypt's unelected vice president.

I am sure all here are familiar with Mr Suleiman.

He can now legally assassinate all opposition to Mubarak.
