By Nick Pinto Wednesday, Jan 26 2011

"Prosecutors investigating more than a dozen Minnesota anti-war activists recently confirmed that the investigation relies on an undercover agent who spent two and a half years infiltrating their organization. Based on the subpoenas they have received, the activists believe the grand jury may eventually bring charges of providing material support for terrorism.

This is how the woman who called herself Karen Sullivan insinuated herself into the lives of local protesters, and how she mysteriously vanished just before FBI agents raided their homes.

(and at the end of the article) (also, all those raided are also active in their local Unions)

IN THE AFTERMATH of the raids, everyone who had ever been part of the Anti-War Committee was calling and emailing, asking if everything was all right, offering their support. Sullivan wasn't heard from at all.

When the committee learned that FBI agents had entered their offices at the University Tech building using a key, they drew the obvious conclusion: As hard as it was to believe, Sullivan had been an undercover informant all along. They agreed not to make any more efforts to contact her, and she was never heard from again."
*****************************************

her undercover was part of the raids and subpeona of over 23 US citizens.

Across the country organizations and individuals are standing together to protest the United States government’s attempt to silence and criminalize anti-war and international solidarity activists. We see the raids and subpoenas as an attack on anti-war and other progressive movements. It is an attack on our freedom to speak, our freedom to assemble with like-minded people, and our freedom to tell the government that their actions and policies are wrong. It is an attempt to clear the way for more wars and occupations of other countries by the U.S. military.

We Demand:
**Stop the repression of anti-war and international solidarity activists.
**Immediately return all confiscated materials: computers, cell phones, papers, documents, etc
**End the grand jury proceedings against anti-war activists.

How about instead of going after fucking PEACE activists, you go after the goddamn militias already?! Y'know, the ones who DO have a history of terrorism?

3. Because those "Militia" are authoritarian at heart
The anti-war are targeted because they aren't and never will be "with the program."

The money is in war and chaos and that must be protected

8. Hell, I would be happy if they could arrest a few of the thieves on Wall Street
The men that engineered and profited from the financial meltdown are infinitely more dangerous to society than peace activists.

9. If I were going to profile Karen Sullivan...
I would bet that much of what she said about her background was true. Of course, including military service. Doing the undercover work she does makes her feel her life has meaning. It's fulfilling her need to do work that is meaningful. It assuages her insecurities and makes her feel that she's important. She believes she's on the "right" side. An egoic (small self as opposed to true self) need.

The bigger picture is that we all have those same needs. She's just using a poor strategy to meet her needs.

My belief is that the ends don't justify the means. When you do wrong to others you are hurting yourself too. It's never good when you are lying about who you are and trying to trick and trap people in pursuit of a bogeymen. That's why I believe undercover operations are so damaging to those who go into that sort of work.

I'm REALLY happy that the Columbian connections were not revealed to Karen Sullivan. How do you live with yourself when you've caused the death of another person?

Your relationships with other humans are the most important part of your life. Your relationships are where you find real joy. And broken trust means a broken relationship.

Really creepy story. I can have compassion for Karen Sullivan but will always be on the lookout for her.

11. Lets see, the agency that hired this woman spent...
tens if not hundreds of thousands in salary and support and despite her best efforts she could not radicalize the group. Pressure was put on her to get results otherwise they would have just walked away as there was "nothing to see here." So she made up shit.

I am sure that everyone in the movement was aware that this could happen but it still ruins lives of regular Americans who do not buy into the current empire building, corporate personhood that is America.

Glad they got the photos out and be on the lookout for her replacement(s). They will probably swap them around now.

12. I'm sure it was tens of thousands
I"m sure that there are other infiltrators in our groups. It is shame the tens of thousands are wasted on these witch hunts.

and you are right,, it is very disruptive and harmful to people's lives. American' lives.

14. "She was never heard from again"
Until the next group gets together to discuss resisting militarism. Then the High Church of Redemptive Violence sends out the agents from the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith to identify heretics and report them to the proper ecclesiastical authorities.
