Edit: Thanks to Jane Austin for pointing out that I attributed the info to the "wrong" Richard! :headbang:

6. That's touching. I was thinking earlier that we're not hearing reports of looting
or anything like that. Just good people who are at their wits' end. :(

Bless those youths. The items "we" lost in Iraq from the museums are such a loss to history.

Thank you for posting this! Maybe it deserves it's own thread? Nudge nudge. :)

7. It sucks that they feel they need to protect a museum...
what's up with THAT?
Shades of Baghdad 2003.

11. When people become so desperate and emotional, they often don't act rationally.
(I remember hearing one man after 9/11 -- business man, family man, "upstanding citizen" who, in the aftermath, and the chaos and looting said, 'all of a sudden I realize I'm running down the street with a television in my arms' - mob mentality.)

These people have been amazingly controlled - check this out:

10. I don't know - although it kind of sounded as though he was treading lightly, those
"in the know" were saying he's made a change in his stance toward Egypt and was essentially telling Mubarak - knock it off. So yeah, maybe that's what did it. :hi:

12. Sounded like a 'knock it off' to me, gate; just saw on NewsHour.
I'm very pleased.

13. I think I was influenced by Cenk's initial take on it -- but the others (and you!)
were sensitive to the REAL message.

15. I think shutting off the internet would just draw MORE protesters into the streets.
