I believe the SOTU rallied support for the President at DU
Edited on Wed Jan-26-11 06:15 PM by Still a Democrat
There are still a number of posters that vocally oppose him and/or the address, but those supporting him seem more outspoken and visible. The supporters are hitting their stride.

Good to see.

3. Yes. It seems that some of DU is a little bit
too outspoken and opinionated, and it makes baby chesus cry. The battle cry seems to be support the leader of the party no matter what, not those "old" Democratic beliefs and values.

4. That question can be seen in many contexts.
Specifically if you think on that, is that all we are about now?

Here is the thing, or my way of thinking about it. I got a point to stand on. Found it years ago, not really happy I did, not even best for me, but it made sense. And nobody has explained why it is wrong.

And if you have a point that is correct, and someone says it is not, then you stand on that point and they start to wail on you. You start to say wtf, and start to see some problems.

So standing on that point, I really can't be dislodged unless someone can explain why I am wrong. And I haven't figured out that I am wrong on that point, and nobody has explained me being wrong. But for some reason the more I stood on that point, the more was thrown at me. And since the point is solid, the things thrown have no effect on the basic point.

Been standing on that point for years, and it is like everything is becoming about that point, I wont give in on it without an explanation, and they can't give an explanation. It is not the best analogy, but it seems like a poker game where both sides keep raising one side because they know they have the best hand, the other side to avoid having to show the losing hand.

It is not what I want to be about, reminds me of the line from BraveHeart where Mel says he didn't ask for this. But what can a person do, they wont pay the beer and travel money due, and can't show where I am wrong where I could then walk away from it. I have even said they don't owe the beer and travel money, so not to hold anyone in a bad position, but that does not change the point to stand on, only the choice not to hold people responsible.

5. "Democratic Underground" . . . not "Obama Underground"
Shouldn't our focus be on the health, safety and rights of the citizens?

7. Here's what we have agreed to do. The victims of the economic disaster of the last few years are
now just a mention in the history books as are the reasons for the disaster. They can now be forgotten about and the rest of us can look forward to the brave new world Obama spelled out last night.

That's how I see it.
