Boomers need to rally behind some leaders who will save Social Security
and Medicare from cuts and fix them so that they will be safe into the far future. Who would you suggest as some Boomers who could lead us? Are there ANY Republican Boomers who would help? This needs to be a Boomer thing and not a Dem or Rep thing. Pressure to both parties. Any suggestions?

1. everyone needs to rally behind this
Not only boomers will be needing SS. So will the child that loses a parent, so will the spouse that loses a partner, so will the person who suddenly becomes disabled and can no longer work, so will many others besides "boomers" and that my friend includes YOU.

:dem:

3. I never once begrudged the amount taken out for FICA
because I knew it was the only sure investment for my future. GODDAMN those who would destroy it.

9. I AM as Boomer. I hope that ALL will step on board, but ....the Boomers
are a huge group that is just now starting to retire. Our views may not be quite as "traditional" as those who are now in AARP (Insurance anyone?). We might be able to cross over and pressure both parties.

4. Everyone should commit to the ISSUE, Social Security and/or Medicare for Everyone's future.
That means we have to work for it, FOR OURSELVES, not for some "leader".

We should LEAD and make those who wish to claim elective office FOLLOW us!

Don't look up, fuck them; look across; look next to you! What is it going to take to get your community active?

10. I don't think many of them are paying attention right now. They are very
cynical, too. A movement might just spark their interest if they can see that "something might just get done".

6. I'm still looking around for a "leader" who actually cares.
Obama doesn't seem to be too worried about it, particularly if he's paying any attention to the cat food commission.

11. I agree. I was thinking of someone like Howard Dean, Russ Feingold,

Alan Grayson, Oprah, or someone out of politics. We need to be outside the party system and push against both or all. Or Michael Moore? But we need some conservatives to appeal to both sides of the spectrum, if possible.....
