The administration had predicted half a million enrollments, I think for federal alone.

http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/11/affordable-care-ac...

I would still not call that a fail. It's still 1o6,000 people who are probably less likely now to die prematurely.

Even better, almost half a million have been added to the Medicaid rolls.

(Imagine the savings if Medicaid and Medicare and ACA and CHIP medical services and whatever else is out there--medical plans for federal employees--could ALL be combined under Medicare for all and streamlined! Boggles the mind. Would also enable US manufacturers to be more competitive with the cost of goods imported from countries where employers screw their employees worse than they are screwed here. Lord, so many reasons for single payer)

The US has a population of almost 350 million. Do not stop demanding single payer. Even if the sobs don't listen. Don't stop demanding it. It's the only thing that makes humanitarian sense or economic sense, including for US employers. And making employees dependent on employer provided health insurance is only one more way to union bust and oppress workers.

Come on, America, do the only sane and humane thing.

1. We have a media in the USA that
will not speak of single payer except in derogatory terms. We know the reason for that. It is so blatantly obvious.

We shouldn't even be having a discussion about the ACA. It should have rolled out flawlessly and everyone should have been happy to have it. The insurance companies should be thrilled that we didn't dismantle the entire medical insurance industry. The uninsured should be happy because they will finally be covered.

But we must have a European style single payer system. Half the cost and better results.

He's pretty derogatory about the Post Office, too. And, today, when speaking of the website, he said they knew that "this" was the kind of thing that the USG was not good out and so "we" should have taken more steps to make sure the project went better.

Wellpoint wrote the ACA, based on something from Heritage Foundation and the website was set up by outside techies and the main problem seems to be the interface with the private insurance. So I have no idea what "this" he is talking about.

Social Security got off just fine and they didn't even have Xerox machines back then, let alone computers. Just pencils and manual typewriters and mimeograph machines or whatever the heck they were. Not even correction tape or White Out. A massive new program, covering every worker in the USA.

Medicare got off just fine too. And I never have any problem finding any info on the Social Security/Medicare website.

And getting a letter from the lobby of my building in Boston to the lobby of my friend's building in Los Angeles in two days for under half a buck is a freaking modern miracle, not to mention that my mail man is a sweetheart whom I love running into.

Great job, President Obama, in joining the Republicans in saying how bad the USG is at doing stuff that it actually does much better and cost effectively than the private sector.

Democrat up, Mr. President.
