Petraeus testifies to Congress, saying, "DU2's No Elephants called it."
Okay, that was not his actual testimony. But his testimony did confirm my post on the matter.

Not that it took a rocket scientist to figure out government was being deceptive. And the Benghazi attack was on 911, after all.

It's amazing that they went to the trouble of arresting the Copt, though. And making it seems that Arab Muslim outrage over a stupid movie was the reason for the deaths of four Americans at the consulate was borderline disgusting.

Sure, George Dummya Bush nailed it: they hate us only for our freedoms and not for anything we actually do to them :sarcasm:.

Crap like this sure doesn't help, though. So far, I haven'theard anyone discuss that part of it.

Petraeus: CIA blamed terrorists for Libya attack

By KIMBERLY DOZIER and NEDRA PICKLER
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Testifying out of sight, ex-CIA Director David Petraeus told Congress Friday that classified intelligence showed the deadly raid on the U.S. Consulate in Libya was a terrorist attack but the administration withheld the suspected role of al-Qaida affiliates to avoid tipping them off.

The recently resigned spy chief explained that references to terrorist groups suspected of carrying out the violence were removed from the public explanation of what caused the attack so as not to alert them that U.S. intelligence was on their trail, according to lawmakers who attended Petraeus' private briefings.

He also said it initially was unclear whether the militants had infiltrated a demonstration to cover their attack.

The retired four-star general addressed the House and Senate intelligence committees in back-to-back, closed-door hearings as questions persist over what the Obama administration knew in the immediate aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks and why its public description did not match intelligence agencies' assessments.

fter the hearings, lawmakers who questioned Petraeus said he testified that the CIA's draft talking points in response to the assault on the diplomatic post in Benghazi that killed four Americans referred to it as a terrorist attack. Petraeus said that reference was removed from the final version, although he wasn't sure which federal agency deleted it.

1. Too late to edit, but everything between "Friday news dump" and the link
should have been inside a block quote. My apologies to AP and to readers.

(Got too full of myself to do it correctly?)
