Looks like DU (a brand-new DUer at that) is responsible for creating a meme.

Trust me, it is funny stuff.

The Original Thread has so many examples, I went ahead and created a Tumblr page

(something I've never tried to do before. I only use Tumblr to grab pics for posting on blogs,
since the interface is not one that is very easy to navigate unless you're a social media junkie;
it's a giant hall of mirrors where every post is reblogged from someone else's site with the
only original content being the images themselves -- mostly lolcats and so-forth.
since I detest social media, I'm not a big fan of following Tumblr friend-links.)
But it's a great tool for viral media, since, like Twitter, people actually use it for that purpose
and you don't have to hope for some famous netizen to pick up on the original thread.

One of the reasons I still like to post here is that everyone seems to know each other

(which was true on DU2 on a much larger scale in 2004-2008 or so).

One manifestation of that is that I can post on DU3, get 200 views and no replies.
So there's no real disincentive not to post here just because of the limited
number of active users...

The post I made about the Tumblr got no replies on DU3 yet, so... yeah.

Hopefully the OP will see it since Spitfire of ATJ is responsible for creating this monster
