Microsoft to offer Windows 8 Pro upgrade to new PC buyers for $14.99
BECAUSE WINDOWS 8 HOME IS SUCH A PIECE OF SHIT.

Buying a new computer but afraid you'll get caught in a few months by the Windows 8 upgrade cycle? Fear not. According to a report from Paul Thurrott, Microsoft will launch a promotion in June that allows new PC purchasers to lock-in an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99.

1. These are usually FREE so charging for the upgrade says the opposite
The differences are minimal. Certainly, charging for an upgrade that's usually offered free is tantamount to saying. "this time the upgrade is worth money", rather than "the OS you just bought is crap."

Personally, I think an OS should be a full and complete OS and not a pared down version. Then again, I would never buy the base version of Windows because I always need the uncrippled version anyway.

2. 8 is crap, I've run the beta, it sucks bad
7 is the best system MS has EVER produced. 8 is cartoonish and is for the I everything crowd.

3. I also used the beta of Windows 8
The "metro" interface is truly a steaming pile of horse crap, for sure and the lack of an easily accessible start menu is an abomination. Still, this was a beta version with virtually nothing working properly, so I'll defer judgment until I see the shipping version.

I have low expectations.

5. And I'll upgrade to the newest version of my Linux distro for free
I won't even have to buy a new computer to do so.

Suck on that, Micro$haft!
