Half of college grads can't find full-time jobs

Another study by Rutgers University found more than a quarter of recent grads (27 percent) said their jobs have them working below the level of their education, the same percentage that have moved in with their parents to save money.

The median salary for recession-era grads in their first job is $27,000, about $3,000 less than those who graduated before the recession began.

The American dream was that you and your spouse might kill yourselves shoveling coal or working in a factory or cleaning toilets. However, if you pinched pennies and there were low interest student loans from the government, maybe even a scholarship from somewhere, maybe some student jobs, your kids could go to college. As a result, they would do better than you could ever dream of for yourselves. And, all that was true.....for a while.
