Kansas lawmakers pass anti-Islamic law measure

(AP) TOPEKA, Kan. - A bill designed to prevent Kansas courts or government agencies from making decisions based on Islamic or other foreign legal codes has cleared the state Legislature after a contentious debate about whether the measure upholds American values or appeals to prejudice against Muslims.

The Senate approved the bill Friday on a 33-3 vote. The House had approved it, 120-0, earlier in the week. The measure goes next to Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, who hasn't said whether he'll sign or veto the measure.

Sigh. If only they would admit that the First Amendment does mean separation of church and state, they could save a lot of time, oxygen and taxpayer money.

Meanwhile, by singling out Muslim law, instead of the law of any religion, they've probably violated the equal protection clause of the fourteenth amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

As well as having embarrassed themselves.

But, wait! There's more....

TN House passes 'gateway sexual activity' ban
Posted: Apr 27, 2012 1:40 PM EDT Updated: May 11, 2012 1:48 PM EDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The House has passed a bill to allow parents to sue teachers or outside groups for promoting or condoning "gateway sexual activity" by students.

The chamber voted 68-23 in favor of the bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Jim Gotto of Nashville on Friday.

Several Democrats argued that the bill's definition of "gateway sexual activity" was too vague and could cause teachers to be disciplined for not breaking up students hugging or kissing during a high school dance.

Democratic Rep. John Deberry of Memphis came to the well of the chamber to make an impassioned defense of the bill and to condemn opponents of being arrogant and "in denial" about efforts to change the behavior that leads to teen pregnancy.

With Democrats like Deberry, who needs nutty Teabaggers?

Judging by the intensity of my kindergarten crush, I would say being born is a gateway sexual activity. (It did not go beyond handholding, though.)

But maybe that's just me. Maybe for everyone else, reaching puberty was the gateway sexual activity.

On its face, this bill probably violates due process clause of the Constitution of the United States because it is too vague and overbroad.

As applied, it will probably violate the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, among other provisions.

But, who worries about the Constitution of the United States anymore anyway? Hell, the Republicans elected to the U.S. House of Representatives could not even manage to read it aloud without messing up.

Lenny Kravitz - Fly away

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2uQ8GMHlTI

wish that I could fly
Into the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly

I'd fly above the trees
Over the seas in all degrees
To anywhere I please

Oh I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

Oh I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

Let's go and see the stars
The milky way or even Mars
Where it could just be ours

Let's fade into the sun
Let your spirit fly
Where we are one
Just for a little fun
Oh oh oh yeah !

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

I got to get away
Feel I got to get away
Oh oh oh yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
Oh Yeah !

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
I got to get away

I want to get away
Yeah
I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
I got to get away

I want to get away
Yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

2. Seriously...NO SERIOUS PARTY could have EVER nominated these folks
..Nor, the McCain/Palin Ticket!

SO! So! What are we to think as Americans about why the Repugs have now had two "SEASONS OF THE CRAZIES?"

What does this mean? I realize that none of us here can offer our "honest" thoughts...because we are living on borrowed time...but WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

Don't even bother to answer...because the answer would get us thrown off...

It's just sad, though.

So...I hear you if you are as sad as I am..and you don't even need to reply. It's just an "under radar saddness" that will eventually have to be answered...maybe way...way...way out there. BUT...I do believe that somewhere...sometime..it will be answered.

Just not now....and not for us...

We just have to work harder for the FUTURE...
