Cat celebrates Mother's Day early, adopts baby squirrel
When 8-year-old Bailee Schultz discovered an orphaned baby squirrel in his grandparents' wooded Michigan backyard, he was scared that it was dying. But his grandparents' cat Oreo had just given birth to five kittens, so they carefully put the squirrel in with Oreo and soon found the newly named Bushytail nursing along with all the kitties. Now one of the squirrel's favorite activities is keeping warm by burrowing under all his new step-siblings, according to the family. The grandparents plan to let Bushytail go free when he gets old enough, but they hope he won't completely say goodbye. "We'll try to feed him to keep him around if we can," said grandma Stephanie Box. After all, Bushy's family now.

2. I hand-raised a squirrel that went back to the wild
with no problem -- although she would park herself upside down on the boxelder tree by the back porch and chatter and yell until somebody took out a Ritz cracker with a little peanut butter on it.

She had young in a tree in the neighbor's yard and would still come back frequently for her cracker. She made an amazing amount of noise about it.
