GOODBYE, AMERICA: Billionaire Facebook Cofounder Renounces Citizenship
(Well....that's pretty good for him. At least he didn't have to build a car assembly line or a railroad across America to make that money)

GOODBYE, AMERICA: Billionaire Facebook Cofounder Renounces Citizenship
Nicholas Carlson

Billionaire Facebook cofounder Eduardo Saverin is renouncing his citizenship ahead of the company's IPO at the end of next week.

Saverin is the cofounder who got booted from the company WAY back in 2005. They made a movie about it.

His 4 percent stake is worth about $4 billion and he's going to save a boatload on taxes with the move.

Singapore, where Saverin lives, does not have a capital gains tax.

He will have to pay an exit tax on his holdings, but it will be at Facebook's valuation now, not after the IPO.

1. oh how the rich work so 'hard' for their billions.. ha. can't say I blame his move, but, he clearly
doesn't think much of being an American to renounce his citizenship, but what's citizenship when there's millions in taxes to be saved? I wonder if Mittens Rmoney ever thought, when he decided upon a Swiss account, if renouncing his citizenship was a better idea?

Eduardo Saverin was born in So Paulo, Brazil, to a wealthy Jewish Brazilian family, and was raised in Miami, Florida.

and let's remember, he has 4%, is facebook worth that much? A matter of a few years and they could be half as important as they are now.

3. I blame his move. This country was VERY good to him. And he is being beyond greedy.

This is an example of what I mean what I say being rich in itself is not bad.

How did you make your money?

What did you do with it once you made it?

It's answers to questions like that that determine if you are merely successful, which is a good thing, or a POS.

If you are so greedy that you give up citizenship in the country that made you a billionaire just do you do not have to pay capital gains tax to that country, you are a POS, in my book.

I would love to owe the IRS a check for millions of dollars. I'dd be grinning ear to ear when I wrote it.
