Ann Romney’s Weird Bird Shirt Cost $990

If you watched Ann Romney's uncomfortably insistant proclamation that her husband Mitt was a "wild and crazy guy just waiting to come out" yesterday, you may have noticed that she was wearing a shirt covered with pictures of what appeared to be giant birds. But getting your own mitts on that ugly shirt will cost you a pretty penny — Ann's parrot blouse costs $990.

The shirt's a Reed Krakoff design from this season's ready-to-wear collection. According to a spokesperson for the designer, Ann didn't get it directly from them, so she must have bought it at Saks or Nieman Marcus or one of those other places normal American stay at home moms talk about over their kitchen tables while they worry about paying the bills.

We couldn't find the exact top for sale online, but we did find a similar top with a similar Put A Big Fucking Bird On It aesthetic. Only this $890 sleeveless number is festooned with a parrot tail print rather than a parrot head print, which means that if you stand next to Ann Romney the next time she wears her $990 tee shirt, you guys can create a human parrot mural. It's like "I'm With Stupid," but way more expensive.

1. Uh, perhaps she wasn't thinking?
I think that parrots are beautiful birds, but that blouse...not so much.

I know that I frequently plop down $990.00 for a blouse.

2. I do too!!!
In fact, the husband is ecstatic to hear that I spent only $990 on my latest ugly blouse purchase.
I can't even begin to describe how wonderful life is.

Now, get the hell back to work.

5. And we thought Callista was a bit odd...
She was on one of the morning shows with this T-Shirt. Apparently she skipped the pants that went with it according to a WaPo report.

I guess it was part of her trying to portray she and Mitt as "wild and crazy." How is that going to go over with the Conservative or Fundy Repugs?

My other thought is that she might not want to be First Lady... But, then being "unthinking or uncaring about how folks might view what they do" seems to be what both Romneys are all about..:eyes:

8. "...Calista's hair never moved" To illustrate how my mind works...
My first thought involved the movie, "There's Something About Mary".

10. Callista's hair never moved because Callista is a mannequin from 1958.

Edited on Sat May-05-12 06:31 PM by KoKo
but...yes...she's a 1958 to 65 Mannequin! Hair Spray! When it was invented and used to do the "Helmet Head!" ...particularly on those "short cuts." :D

Newt always liked that kind of gal. Took him a few marriages to find this "Helmet Head"....and I wonder what happens now...with that marriage? He throws them off like ticks...

16. You're right. 1958 is too early. The movie was 1987.

Of course, Kim Cattrall is much prettier than Callista.

And showed more life, even in her frozen state.

24. 1958 was a little before my time...
:P I do remember mammequins, but they were in stores, without wind blowing outside, or humidity...they're still there today, without wind, or humidity, or the simple act of moving, bending forward...Calista's hair never moved.

20. Nah...we don't get into that stuff over here. It's just a "Weird Bird" Expensive T-Shirt
in the times of Occupy Wall Street....she just doesn't get it. She's as CLUELESS as her HUSBAND!

It just made her look...OUT OF TOUCH AND WEIRD!

WHAT WAS...she THINKING? Or, she doesn't "GIVE A F**ck?"

OR her "HANDLERS" and they are the BILLION DOLLAR FOLKS...thought this would go over well with the "Upscale Repugs" who look down on their CHRISTIAN FUNDIE DONORS who they THOUGHT this image of her would go over VERY WELL with them!

I am a Christian (fallen away because of the corruption) but to see the Mittsters USE THIS...in this way is Disgusting. But, then ...he's a Mormon. :eyes:

I hope you get my :sarcasm:

12. She was thinking,"My husband is so rich, I can spend $1000 on a hideous T shirt and
wear it on TV, instead of some tasteful outfit."

I saw that interview and kept trying to figure out what on earth she had on. I thought it was a fish, though.

I like how the beak is under her armpit. Very cool look. :sarcasm:

Word to Ann Romney. Here are words I shop by: "If it doesn't look that good on a runway model, it probably will look less good on me."

Also, if you are trying to make your husband seem like someone who can relate to the problems of the 99%, spending $1000 on a T shirt is probably not the way to go.

Oh, and, in general, if you had been there to do an animal segment, that wardrobe choice may have been okay. Howing wearing even a sane T Shirt to a television interview of a wannabe First Lady is just bizarre. Seems like you don't even have a clue how to fake relatability and only compounds your husband's problem.

You're welcome.

13. It may have been a smart move, after all.
Maybe Ann was hoping what she wore would make people ignore what she and her husband said.

I confess that I got distracted by trying to figure out what the hell she was wearing and probably missed a lot of what they said. In the case of the Romneys, missing a lot of what they say that can only work to their advantage, since much of what they say only reinforces how out of touch they are with most voters.

Dont' ever ignore the First Instinct........ Graphic Designer who was way old than me...told me..

Your FIRST INSTINCT is your Best...the rest is just "you working against yourself."

I can't say that's ALWAYS TRUE...but, many times his words have come back to haunt me...as true..

Just saying...
