My, my, my Will the Republikkans and Faux Spews be turning on the Catholic Bishops
Catholic bishops criticize Ryan budget cuts to food stamps

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is criticizing the House Republican budget authored by Rep. Paul Ryan for cutting food stamps and other assistance programs for the poor.

In a letter sent to the House Agriculture Committee on Monday, the bishops say the budget fails to meet certain moral criteria by disproportionately cutting programs that serve poor and vulnerable people.

A second letter sent Tuesday to the Ways and Means Committee criticizes a provision that makes it more difficult for illegal immigrants to claim child tax credits. The bishops called the credit one of the most effective antipoverty programs in our nation.

The letters follow Ryans (R-Wis.) comments last week that his Catholic faith shaped the budget he authored. He also argued the budget is consistent with Catholic teachings.

I'll be curious if the Bishops push as hard on this as they do on birth control and abortion and how much push back the Republikkans will give.
I'll be curious of Scarborough decides to even address this

1. Oh, they've already started with a "if they only understood" line.
It goes basically: if we don't decimate programs for the poor, everything will collapse, and there will be nothing left for the poor.

What I'm curious to see is whether the bishops will call them on that. But I ain't holding my breath.

2. If it had been the last Pope I think there might have been more push back
Under this Pope it's all about abortion, birth control and hating gays.

I'm not seeing the Bishops going out on a limb over this

Which I find disturbingly amusing since Jesus spoke often about aiding the poor, while he was silent on homosexuality and abortion

3. No, the Republicans will not turn on Catholics. They both know that the choice issue trumps hunger
in the eyes of the Church in the U.S.

So, the Catholics will give lip service to things Jesus spoke of repeatedly while continuing to shill for Republicans because of an issue that neither the OT nor the NT ever mentioned.

As though women in Biblical times were not aborting.
