Trayvon Martin: Other 'Stand Your Ground' cases from FL to NC
I found this earlier and I was horrified.

The intent of this post is not to diminish the spotlight that is shining on the Trayvon Martin murder, as I think that spotlight needs to continue to shine and a lot of pressure needs to be put on officials in FL. Nor is it to compare these cases with his as they aren't comparable because some of the young people detailed in this piece were involved in criminal behavior - minor, bullshit behavior that could've been handled differently, AFAIC, but criminal behavior.

The point of this post is that while I try to keep up with what's going on I had no idea just how bad these laws are nor the number of young people who have been killed, one as young as 13. When the circumstances were questionable and someone was tried, these crazy 'Stand Your Ground' laws have allowed people to get away with killing young people.

Needless to say I was disheartened when I heard Mike Papantonio on Ed's show earlier mentioning how difficult it would be to repeal these laws, not only in FL, but in the states that have them.

IMHO, this is insanity.
