The media is doing its best to put lipstick on the pig...
Edited on Wed Feb-29-12 05:43 AM by kentuck
In this case, the "pig" is the elitist Mitt Romney. Not since Warren Harding have we had a politician so out of touch with the people of this country.

In these difficult times, he has no problem talking about his two Cadillacs or how he is not concerned about the "very poor". He has no idea what the average American is experiencing and he proves it every day with his silly proclamations. In his attempt to appeal to working class NASCAR voters, he says that some of his closest friends are NASCAR team owners, as if they are the same. The more he tries to be "normal", the more his "fakeness" shines through.

Yet, the media continues to build him up and to cover up his bloopers and mistakes. Even his own Party is rejecting his elitism. But he continues to win the dog shows called "primaries" because he is mostly running against "mutts". Even with such lackluster competition, he still cannot break the 50% barrier in his own Party.

But the media trudges onward. They want us to believe this guy is a credible candidate for President of the United States. He doesn't represent the 99%. He doesn't even represent the 1%. He represents the .0001% of the wealthiest people of this nation. And this is what the nation needs or wants? Bring in the clowns. And be sure to bring more lipstick.

number of votes.

For a second or two, some said it was essentially a tie. Some said it was a squeaker. But, most said it was a win. We heard a lot about it.

Then he won New Hampshire, where he owns a home and has spent a lot of time for years. Suddenly, he had two wins (no one was talking tie or close), and he had "momentum."

Then, we find out Santorum actually won Iowa--and a lot of ballots had "disappeared" forever.

We heard about Santorum's "close call" and "essentially a tie" win in Iowa for a minute and a half, then media stopped talking about it entirely.

Go to Maine, another New England state likely to go for a Massachusetts Governor, and the GOP holds the vote everywhere, except where Ron Paul was predicted to win huge. Was the weather really that much worse in that one area than it was in the rest of the state? I have no idea but I never heard media even question it.

Then, everyone starts saying that a loss for Romney in Michigan could really be a problem for his nomination chances. Could? With anyone else, they would have been saying a loss in the state where he was born and raised, where he was a "native son" would mean the kiss of death for his candidacy.

So, he gets by Michigan in an embarrassingly close win and suddenly he's safe, probably inevitable, again.

And those are just the bigger highlights. All along the establishment has been pushing him as inevitable and the one who can beat Obama and the media has been in the "inevitable" chorus.

If people cannot tell the GOP establishment and the media have been holding hands on this all along, they probably have trouble getting dressed in the morning.

And if you think it is only the Republican Party, think Dean and Kerry (the famous yelp getting played over and over for days, with news anchors actually questioning Dean's sanity).

And then, there was Obama and Hillary. I don't go back as far as some, but, in my lifetime, I cannot recall any married man of any political persuasion going on about how listening to a male candidate makes him feel a thrill up his leg. I also cannot recall any Presidential hopeful being accused of pimping out her daughter. Again, that is to name only a few.

2. Ahhh, that brings to mind the good old days,
When Sara Palin was as crazy as it gets. Little did we know how deep the right wing insanity really was. Hopefully Santorum is as bad as it can get.
