Georgia judge pulls gun to make a point
Georgia judge pulls gun to make a point

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- A Georgia prosecutor said he thought a judge showed poor judgment when he pulled a gun in his courtroom while scolding a recalcitrant witness.

Lumpkin County District Attorney Jeff Langley said he thought the exasperated judge made "a poor rhetorical point" when he produced a handgun and told the witness she might as well shoot her own lawyer because she was scuttling the case with her alleged evasiveness.

"It was totally inappropriate conduct for a courtroom," Langley said.

Ya think? A lawyer told me that what we see on TV is false. Lawyers cannot even get too close to a witness's chair when questioning them because that could be deemed intimidating a witness.

Nothing intimidating about having a judge pull a gun while scolding you, though. :sarcasm:

2. My favorite story about Georgia judges ....
My grandfather use to tell about a judge back in the 1930s. He would sit down at the bench, open his robe and pull out a pistol. He'd lay the pistol down in front of him, pick up the gavel and growl ...

"Let the perjury begin !"

I suppose he had listened to one too many defense lawyers :-)
