I post this with "fear and trepidation" thinking it can be viewed as "Calling Out" on DU -2

...but I have to say I have found the Mods on this Forum,very fair...and if when you first view this you think it needs to be locked or disappeared,I will understand.

What I'm trying to say is that this post and thread is why I have a problem with DU-3.

I realize that many who have been here are asking us to go over there and "Give Our Voice" so that the Admins of DU-3 will understand that the "old Mod System" worked better than the Jury System and the "New Rules."

I haven't posted over there since I think December 12 or 13th (which was after Skinner said we needed to "move over from here.")

But, this particular post is the crux of WHY I won't move over to DU-3 and probably why some others of us won't go over there, either..aside from my Privacy Concerns that the new TOS over there and Privacy Agreement (one needs to view to see what happens if DU is sold off to investors) have declared that turned me off.

Here is the Post and Thread and that is why I won't go over there, anymore after lurking, because I don't consider the trashing of voices folks who posted on DU in JOURNAL FORM (here on DU)as an Object of Ridicule...and this was Ridicule...no doubt in my mind:

20. I've enjoyed the thoughtfulness, good company and refuge of DU2 these last few weeks.

After reading some of the more bizarre taunts to go there, I'd thought I'd stop by Du3: that thread is what I found. It's strange that a thread defending the awful precedence of an awful law begins the precedence to call out and ridicule of someone in our own DU community. It diminishes us all as a community. This is the most bizarre GOTV ever.

7. It's OTT...and would never have been allowed here on DU-2...at least

since i've been here.

Tired of the fighting. No one really refuted Swanson...just trashed him...and repeated what seemed to be "RoboCall Talking Points." That's what got me crazy with anger.

One should never post when angry...but, knowing that there are many who want the "malingerers here on DU-2 to move over...it just showed the differences between the two sites.

I like to read differing viewpoints and if I don't agree maybe I don't post or kick or what ever.

We can do that here now...since this site is so much smaller and the "Battleground Front" moved over to DU-3. BUT...what about US...who are sick of the Sports Games/Political Theory Battleground?

Where is just a place to review posts...and if you don't like it...you move on...if you like it you join in discussion. A Place to just read/reflect and figure out if you want to reply or not...but not TRASH or Get into SPORTS GAMING CRAP where "One Team or the Other" just HAS TO WIN?

13. A lot of it is like that, but not always.

You never know when you'll learn something new, see something in an entirely different way, find a new issue you care about or make a new friend. And that's not even counting having access to the latest news, often long before we see or hear it in the MSM.

Maybe I'm trying to see the glass as half full, but there are so many quiet corners of DU that I couldn't name even half of them. But I'm also grateful that we're still able to be here. :hi:

I never ever complained about the mod system here, I still think it's the fairest. I'm leary of the whole jury thing over there, that's a big reason why I don't think I will ever feel I belong to the DU3 community.

12. I think it's (moderation) a great

decision maker for offensive/OTT posts. As a moderator, your fellow mods would know, with such a small pool (err... hot tub) if you showed a partisan manner in your decisions pertaining to specific members.

As a mod, I sided in every member's defense on posts when the rules required, and against when the rules required - without fail, and regardless what I thought of the poster whose post was alerted on to us. I believe that way of deciding posts superior to the newer option.

And as for the taunting manner from that OP, it doesn't surprise me.

Until we got the Jury system, I didn't realize how good our mod system is. Especially with the mods we have here now.

But there's something to be said for the mod system having developed a consensus over time about what is appropriate.

With a jury system, that consensus could change on a day to day basis. It's not like wikipedia where you have an

Contrary to your assertion, observation, opinion, a great many posts and replies that might seem to be violations of rules remain.

The jury system is "different". Better or worse than moderation is a subjective matter, but different it is.
