Well, I think I won't be around so much...
I didn't post all that often; so I probably won't be missed. Mostly, I tried to add a bit of humor.
So very much in this world is beyond our control, and so I try to make light of it.

But there is nothing at all funny about the poor, the homeless, the hungry, the unemployed...or a president that doesn't honestly address these issues. It's gotten harder to find the humor in anything. It all saddens me.

I won't pay to post on any website, with one exception. I send a few bucks a year to a breast cancer forum. The owner found me 14 years ago, when I desperately needed the help. She paid for it all herself, until she had to quit working. $10. a year is all she asks for from the members.

And so, I may post here and there on DU2 as long as it remains. Once it is gone, so am I.

I have enjoyed my time here, I have learned a lot.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and a healthy and happy New Year. Be well.

2. I'm glad you posted.
Your sentiment is shared by others. It saddens me as well. It's odd that as I type this I'm listening to a movie where they're talking about taking the Marines out of Nicaragua. It was 1928. Like we're stuck in a cycle. Going nowhere.

Sometimes hearing about someone else who feels the same makes things easier. That's how I feel about what you had to say. I'm down about some things that are so much bigger than politics. We've grown into a monster. The whole human race. The economies of the world. And both the environment, and people who can see reality clearly, are taking a serious hit.

You obviously have a good heart. Share it. You don't have to pay to post. Just to use some of the not needed things. I don't want to go there either. But there isn't much of an alternative.

15. Yes, it is.
I have planted myself on a site where one does not get "juried" for stating their views on President Obama.

Maybe I will run into you there. :)

6. You DO know you do not HAVE to pay on DU3, yes?
Posting, reading, all groups and forums, are all free, no different than here.
Lots of people over there do not have stars, just as many of us did not have stars over here.

I didn't see ads when I had no star, I have Ad Block.

Instead of a quarterly fund drive, there is either a monthly donation or an annual donation
but those are not mandatory.

14. Yep...I do realize that.
I had indulged in a bit of the spirits when I posted.

Having said that, DU3 is really hard for my eyes to take (glaucoma and cataracts). I can shrink the screen down and do away with the blinking ads, but that doesn't really address my problems.

I just don't care for it. And the fact of the matter is, I'm not all that into our President.
I feel like I've been duped.

My husband told me back in 2008...He's George Bush in Democrat's clothing. I just didn't see it back then.

But I see it now.

I wouldn't last very long on DU3.

May you have a very happy and prosperous New Year! :hi:

17. Maybe if you saw some of the ads...
you might find that there are more than a few hawking 'dating sites' from sites such as fillapino.com

NOT what I would expect or would want from DU!

Maybe try looking at the site without logging in and you'll see what I'm taking about...

NOT COOL!!!

18. did you notice the vibrator ad that has been running here?
Though I do see your point, ads for ethnic or whatever dating sites is pretty tasteless and even a little creepy. The vibrator ad though made du2 a little nsfw.

9. Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the post.

My Wife, Starkraven, has been a member of DU since 2004,
and has a total of 41 posts,
but logs on almost daily.

She is also a Stage 3 Breast Cancer survivor of 17 years,
and most of our charity (when we can afford it) is directed to Breast Cancer.
I asked her permission before posting this,
and she added, "Merry Christmas".

16. 17 years !!!
Good for her. 17 years of "one day at a time"...well, I am in awe.

Just found out that a first cousin is dealing with 2 different kinds of breast cancer...one in each breast. Her outlook is good, God willing.

A younger 2nd cousin is dealing with bone mets. I'm very worried about her. She is on continuous chemo. She just hopes to hang on until her only child is grown. I actually know a couple of other women going through the same thing.

Blessings to you and your wife. Tell her that I had a great Christmas...and please give her my best wishes for 2012, and many more healthy and happy yeats thereafter.
We all get where we are going. :pals:
